Abhishek Chaubey’s crime-thriller Udta Punjab gets closer to 50 crore mark at the Indian box office in its second week, while yesterday released two films Raman Raghav 2.0 and Junooniyat failed to attract the audience and kept low on its first day.
Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer controversial film Udta Punjab, which is based on drug addiction problem occurred in Punjab is receiving a commendable response from the audience, even in small centers, where there are not any multi screen theaters.
This A certified film has collected Rs 1.40 crore on its 8th day i.e. on second Friday and reached to the total of Rs 49.90 crore. Thus, it has now an inch closer to become 7th highest grossing film of 2016 and by today it will surely cross the lifetime collections of Arjun Kapoor starrer Ki and Ka which earned Rs 51.62 crore.

It is now interesting to see how long Udta Punjab would go from here and whether it will cross 60 crore mark or not. Although, due to the less competition plus no more big films would come in next week too, Udta Punjab has an opportunity to stretch its run as much as possible.
This week is going to a big disappointment for box office as both the releases of the week failed to performed as per the expectations. Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer crime-thriller Raman Raghav 2.0, despite fantastic reviews couldn’t take a better start due to its content and the less screen count in the country.
Raman Raghav 2.0 just managed to collect around 1.10 crore, which is not even a par figure as per the box office point of view. The other well known star cast film Junooniyat starring Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam is also on the same track and collected around Rs 1 to 1.5 crore.
