Vijay Krishna Acharya, with whom Aamir earlier worked together had first written the script of Thug with Hrithik in mind. Hrithik also praised the concept but wanted some changes in the script which Victor refused to alter.

After several rounds of discussion, things didn’t get into the right direction and Hrithik opted out of the project. Then, Victor re-write the script and went to Aamir, who has just finished the final schedule of his upcoming sports-biographical film Dangal to be released in December this year.

According to the sources close to the project, Aamir has liked the project and almost given his nod to Victor for the film. After serious character of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, Aamir now wants to enjoy some fun loving role, that’s why he has chosen this film.

The sources also revealed that Aamir’s role in Thug will be on similar lines what he played in 1995 film Rangeela. He played Tapoori’s role in Ram Gopal Verma’s superhit film Rangeela.

Aamir is currently busy in the post productions of Dangal and then plans out the promotional strategies. Thug will only start in early 2017 after Aamir will get free from Dangal.

Vijay Krishna Acharya is an integral part of Yash Raj Films. He wrote the scripts of highly popular Dhoom franchise and made his directorial debut with Tashan (2008) which hadn’t performed well at the box office.
