A.R. Murugadoss directorial action-drama Akira has kept steady on its 4th day at the box office. On 1st Monday, Akira has collected Rs 3.40 crores and now its total box office collections have reached to Rs 20.05 crores at the domestic circuits.
Sonakshi Sinha starrer Akira, which was released in around 1200 screens in India has so far gone brilliantly at the box office. The making cost of Akira is 30 crores including 22 crores on cost of productions and another 8 crores on promotions and advertisements.

Despite an average opening, Akira has managed to recover more than half of the cost of productions. The pleasing thing for the producers is that Akira has already got around Rs 13 crores from the music and other rights, so it has been a profitable affair for the makers.
The audience has liked Sonakshi’s performance as a brave girl, who fights against the exploitation of women and the corrupt system. She has impressed her fans with her maiden action avatar.
At the overseas too, Akira has got positive results. With the limited overseas release, Akira has so far collected around Rs 6.76 crores from the foreign markets. With this, Akira’s worldwide box office collections stand at Rs 26.41 crores.
Well, after this steadiness on the first weekday, now it is very important for Akira to continue with the same momentum. The next 3 days are very important for the film as Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra starrer Baar Baar Dekho is releasing on this Friday.
