Akira is an action-packed thriller in which Sonakshi Sinha has played the titular role of a college student who trapped in problems by a corrupt police officer. Anurag Kashyap and Konkana Sen Sharma have also played the important roles in the film.
Sonakshi’s kickass action sequences are the highlight of the film but due to limited screen count around 2300 screens, a huge number of people will not get the chance to watch the film in theaters.
This is the main reason why Akira has not got to a double-figure start despite zero competition at the box office.
Meanwhile, there is something good news has been come out for Akira from the overseas market. Akira has taken a mind-blowing start in the middle east reason and grossed Rs 92.91 lakhs on its opening day in UAE and Gulf regions.
With this, It becomes biggest women-centric Bollywood opener in the middle east region beating Neerja (2016), Marry Kom (2013) and NH 10 (2015).
So, after this below average start on the opening day, now Akira has to take off towards growth in the coming first weekend and show out some steadiness.
Day-wise box office collections of Akira:
Day 1 – 5.15 crores
Total – 5.15 crores
