There is very tough competition in Bollywood filmmakers due to several releases in one month or sometimes two or three films release on same day. So Big stars’ movies or good content films can easily collect more than investment, but it’s not possible that every film will do good business.
2017 started with Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer romantic comedy film Ok Jaanu and that film didn’t well at Box office neither impressed the audiences. Another side low budget film Haraamkhor also failed to score well. These both the films were released on the same date.
Shahrukh Khan starred action crime film Raees and Hrithik Roshan starred romantic crime thriller Kaabil released on the same day which was first and the biggest clash of 2017 and both the films collected a huge money, top scorers of 2017.
Raees became Shahrukh Khan’s career seventh 100 crore film and Kaabil became Hrithik Roshan’s career fourth 100 Crore film.
The superstar Akshay Kumar starred comedy court drama Jolly LLB2 succeeded to be most profitable film till the date, became Akshay Kumar’s s career 7th 100 crore film and consecutively the fourth one.
Then Irada, Running Shahid.com, and The Ghazi Attack released on 17th February. The Ghazi Attack surprisingly impressed the audiences and critics and became the top rated film of 2017. But the film failed at Box Office.
The collaboration of a filmmaker like Vishal Bhardwaj and popular actors Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, and Saif Ali Khan failed to get the positive response from audiences through period romantic drama Rangoon and the film became the first disaster of 2017.
Rom-com Badrinath Ki Dulhania released on the occasion of Holi, loved by audiences and doing well at Box Office too. The film easily beat superstar Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil weekend collection and became third Highest first weekend grosser of 2017 and crossed 100 Crore.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania is Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starred the third film after Student of the Year (2012), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and these all are successful projects.
Baahubali 2 Hindi version was a storm at Box Office and earned more than 500 Crore in only Hindi version and around 1700 Crore worldwide. Hindi Medium and Sachin A Billion Dreams loved by audiences in May. Raabta and Salman’s much hyped Tubelight disappointed in June.
Sridevi’s Hindi Thriller Mom received a good response while Paresh Rawal and Kartik Aaryan’s comedy movie Guest Iin London failed to impress both audiences and critics in the start of July. Then much awaited Jagga Jasoos, Munna Michael also failed to impress critics. Lipstick Under My Burkha and Mom are good among July releases.
Mubarakan, Raag Desh, Indu Sarkar and Baaraat Company released in July End. Mubarakan got very well response as compared to others. Low Budget Lipstick Under My Burkha critically acclaimed, then Akshay Kumar Toilet works well at Box Office. Bareilly Ki Barfi is one of top rated of 2017. A Gentleman, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Qaidi Band and Sniff received mix reviews in August end.
Ayushmann and Bhumi’s Jodi impressed again in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and multi-starrer Baadshaho gets mixed reviews. Comedy drama Poster Boys, Daddy received an average response while The Rally failed to impress neither collect well at Box Office.
Poster Boys, Daddy, Simran, Lucknow Central, Bhoomi and Haseena Parkar disappointed in September Newton received critical acclaim. Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2 respite for Box Office. October 1st week release Chef received mix reviews and poor at Box Office.
