Box Office: Fan ends its week one with disappointing numbers

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Fan has completed its first week at the Indian box office. This Yash Raj Productions venture that started out with highest day one and first weekend collections have failed to get on in the weekdays and thus finished its week one with just Rs 71.50 crore which is a big disappointment for the makers.

On Thursday, i.e. day 7, Fan has only collected Rs 3.15 crore and taking its toll to Rs 71.50 crore. The big reason to worry is that after enjoying a prolific first weekend of Rs 52.35 crore. The film had dramatically dropped down on the 1st Monday to more than 3 times what it fetched on Sunday, which is certainly creates a big question mark on the credibility of superstar like Shah Rukh Khan. Plus on the subsequent days after Monday, the film only gone downwards and haven’t seen any kind of growth not even a single week day.

We understand that this is not a regular SRK masala movie having all the ingredients of a family entertainer like in his last few films but still the stardom and popularity of King Khan had been enough to pull the audience towards the theatre. However, this time, this preconceived notion about the superstar has broken very badly. Fan has not even managed to break the record of this year highest first week box office collections of Akshay Kumar’s Airlift (Rs 83.50 crore) and the blockbuster Hollywood film The Jungle Book (Rs 71.50 crore).

If we even compare the numbers of Shah Rukh’s last few films, Fan is not even close to those milestone figures. His last film Dilwale (2015) despite poor reviews somehow got Rs 102.65 crore at the end of week one and Happy New Year (2014) was garnered a whooping collections of Rs 152 crore.

Well, with this pace, the further journey of Fan at the box office will be stiffer. Although, there is not any big film releasing in this week but still it is very difficult for the film to cross the coveted 100 crore club at the end of its first weekend. Hope for the best.
