Box office: A dull first weekend for Love Games, Ki and Ka kept strong

After so many fruitful weeks for Bollywood, last week had been one of the disappointing weekends for the box office numbers. The only released Vikram Bhatt’s erotic- thriller Love Games has failed to make a mark at the box office and only collected Rs 2.04 crore on its first weekend that are really worst figures of a Hindi film in the recent past while Ki an Ka still holds strong after finishing its second weekend.

Released with the negative reviews, Love Games that comprises some really hot scenes has failed to attract the audience and is a clear flop affair. On Friday, it opened with only Rs 1.03 crore followed by the further loss in the subsequent day. On Saturday, with a little fall, the film fetched around Rs 1.01 crore. Sunday was another disappointing day for Love Games and it collected only Rs 1.53 crore. Now, its overall first weekend collection is around Rs 4 crore.

On the other hand, Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer romantic-drama Ki and Ka is still holding really well in its second weekend. On its second weekend, This R. Balki directorial had collected Rs 8.24 crore (Rs 2.23 crore on Friday, Rs 2.80 crore on Saturday and Rs 3.21 crore on Sunday). Now its total collections after second weekend is Rs 45.81 crore and the film is rapidly running towards the magical figure of Rs 50 crore. Ki and Ka is also the fourth highest grosser of 2016 surpassing the total collections of Farhan Akhtar’s Wazir (Rs 42 crore).

Although, for Bollywood, last week was not an encouraged one but the Hollywood film The Jungle Book has steeled the show with the storming collections of Rs 40.19 crore on its first weekend. These unbelievable numbers are just eye openers for Bollywood as these numbers are more than some big Hindi films released in 2016.
