After having a decent first three days at the domestic box office, Priyanka Chopra starrer crime-thriller Jai Gangajal had shown a steady Monday and collected Rs 3.25 crore. Now its total four day collections remain at Rs 22.50 crore. Whereas, Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja has entered its week number 4 and become the biggest Bollywood grosser, which don’t have male actor in the main lead.
Made with the budget of around Rs 25 crore, Prakash Jha’s directorial had witnessed above par footfalls on Monday due to the holiday of Mahashivratri which means it has got the privilege of this extended weekend. Due to the no other big releases round the corner, Jai Gangajal would now has a fair amount of chance to gain as much as possible. Its cost of production would recovered by Today.
People have been enjoying the performance of Priyanka Chopra as tough Police Officer Abha Mathur. Prakash Jha has also impressed in his debut film as an actor. If all goes well, this would be another women centric film after Neerja to be accepted by the people with open arm and let’s see how it will go in coming days.
On the other hand, Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja still continues its dream run at the box office. Entering its fourth week, On Monday it collected Rs 1.45 crores and it now has a total collections of Rs 65.24 crore. With these mindboggling numbers, this true story of a courageous flight attendant has surpassed the lifetime collections of Priyanka Chopra starrer Marry Kom (Rs 64 crore) and become highest ever grosser of any women centric films of Bollywood.
This is certainly a big achievement for this film, which made with the budget of just Rs 21 crore. It still attracted a decent number of people towards the theatre and will have some more crores in its kitty.
