So, finally, after so much wait, Information and Broadcasting Ministry have just announced the winners list of prestigious 63rd National Film Awards 2016. Surprisingly, Hindi films this year have outshone the other regional cinema and bagged all the major categories Awards. We bring you the complete list of the winners.
If we talk about the top categories, the award for Best Film has gone to the enigmatic film Baahubali –The Beginning that had transformed the entire scenario of the celluloid after breaking all the box office records in every possible language across the globe.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has this year swept Best Actor’s Award in almost all the major Award shows including Filmfare, Screens, and Stardust etc. The jury of National Film Awards led by veteran filmmaker Ramesh Sippy has also saluted this legendary actor for his performance in critically acclaimed film Piku and Big B won the Best Actor Award. This is fourth National Award for Amitabh. Earlier, he won this award for Agneepath (1990), Black (2005) and Paa (2009).
The next important award was National Award for Best Actress and it is none other than the talent Kangana Ranaut, who once again backed it for her impressive dual performance in Anand L. Rai’s sequel Tanu Weds Manu Returns. This is her second National Award after receiving this for superhit film Queen (2014).
National Award for Best director went to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his last year’s magnum opus Bajirao Mastani, that had not only appreciated by the critics but also set some new box office records all over the world.
