It seems that the risk which had taken by Shah Rukh Khan to do a non commercial kind of film Fan is not placed right. This is the reason why the film, which had got the rave reviews, is not able to transform it into box office numbers. Continuously in the second week day, i.e. on 1st Tuesday, Fan shows further drop and reduced to Rs 5.75 crore. Its total 5 days collections have now reached to Rs 64.15 crore, which is certainly not acceptable from a Shah Rukh Khan film.
This Maneesh Sharma directorial plot wise is completely different from a regular SRK’s film comprising masala entertainer, romance, action and songs. There is not any female lead in the film, so there was not required to have any song in the film which his fans haven’t seen in any of the previous SRK films. That why people hadn’t felt connected with the film and it results in these moderate box office numbers.

This is certainly a big disappointing and shocking for Yash Raj Films, producer of Fan, who thought people, will solely accept this unique film in the similar way like their other films but they failed to get the desired results. What’s more shocking is that the 2nd Tuesday collections of recently released Hollywood film The Jungle Book (Rs 6.37 crore) is more than the 1st Tuesday business of Fan (Rs 5.75) in India. This is something which can’t easily digest.
If we talk about the first 5 days collections of Shah Rukh’s last two biggest grossers Happy New Year (2014) and Chennai Express (2013), Fan is not even close to what these two got. While Happy New Year had collected Rs 136.86 crore in first 5 days, Chennai Express had managed to do the business of Rs 124.45 crore in the same duration. So, on this way, this is one of the biggest shocks that we have seen in recent past.
Now, we could only hope that Fan could improve in the coming days as there is not any big release this week but it is very difficult task for Fan to get past to 100 crore club at the end of the second weekend.
