Director: R. Balki
Star Cast: Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan
Duration: 2 hours 6 minutes
Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
Filmmaker R. Balki’s films are always different. His every film has been the talk of the town among the audience. Right from Cheeni Kum (2007), Paa (2009) to Shamitabh (2015), all these are not ordinary regular Hindi Films. This time also he has made Ki and Ka which is based on a topic that no one has ever touched. It’s a story about a house husband. Let’s see whether he is successful in what he wants to say with the film.
The story of Ki and Ka revolves around Kabir (Arjun Kapoor) and Kia (Kareena Kapoor Khan) who have met in Chandigarh-Delhi flight. It is the love at first sight kind of moment and both have fallen in love. Immediately after this, both have decided to get marry and tied the knot. Kia, who is an enthusiastic working lady, wants to become CEO of her company. As her dreams are big, Kia and Arjun decided that Arjun will manage the house and Kia will concentrate on work. Day by day this relationship gets weird and as expected there are lots of ups and down comes up in their life. Now, how can Arjun and Kia gets out of this mess up? Whether this sweet relationship will survive or not? This you will know after watching the film.
Well, Balki’s imagination and thinking should have given full marks but he somehow failed to implement what he wants to make. Script is not as good as it required. Although, first half is quite promising and the makers have kept the nerves of the audience in control but second half is too slow and weak. However, the presence of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan as a cameo will delight you for a bit but overall, there are lots of weak point in the script that might be rectified.
Arjun Kapoor is day by day becoming a better actor. He, as a house husband, given his best performance so far. After watching him in this role, this might be possible that most of the women now want this kind of husband. Kareena Kapoor has the mastery to portray this kind of role having women. She is looking good and her emotions will get full marks. Having Big B and Jaya Bachchan is a good treat for the audience.
As I said earlier, the only weak point of Ki and Ka is the correct execution of this nice concept. It could have been 100 times better than this. The effort of Balki and the performances of the star cast are commendable but the script somehow doesn’t match up the expectations.
At the end, I must say that if you are a big fan of R. Balki and his films, Ki and Ka is definitely a onetime watch film for you but don’t go with much expectation from it.
My Rating to Ki and Ka is 2.5 out of 5 stars.
