Here comes disappointing news for the fans of Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan. After so much confusion, the makers of his upcoming crime-thriller film Raees have finally shifted the release date of the film to 26th January 2017. Earlier, it was scheduled to hit the screens on Eid 2016 but that slot had already booked by box office king Salman Khan for his wrestling based film Sultan.
Ritesh Sidhwani, co-producer of Raees, released a joint statement on behalf of Farhan Akhtar and Shah Rukh, which reads, It was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that #Raees is highly anticipated. However, a film of such magnitude requires the appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26th January 2017.
Well, this is indeed surprising news but not shocking. Surprising is because for the past few months, even from the day it was disclosed that Shah Rukh’s Raees and Salman’s Sultan would face the clash of the titans on this Eid 2016, both camps were determined not to shift the release date and lets see who have the greatest fan following mode. Specially, Farhan Akhtar openly refused to postpone his films and said that both Shah Rukh and Salman are big superstars and the film that will be good overall will survive and he is ready for this challenge but now suddenly Farhan and Ritesh pulled back their hand and announced a new release date.
The biggest reason for this shifting is clearly the unbelievable performance of Shah Rukh’s recent released film Fan which was almost flopped at the box office. His last year released film Dilwale was also not performed according to the expectations and now Fan has proved that there seems to be a big downfall in his stardom which forced the producers of Raees to rescheduled the release date because at the end of the day, producers have to bear the huge loss.
On the other hand, Salman once again proved that he is the real box office king of Bollywood and nobody has dare to clash with him on Eid, not even Shah Rukh Khan. The recently released teaser of Sultan, in which, he is playing the role of a Haryanvi wrestler has been so much appreciated by the audience and received millions of hits on You Tube.
Now, after this clarification from Ritesh Sidhwani, YRF’s Sultan will enjoy solo release with 5 days extended weekend and this will probably big bounty for Salman and his fans.
