Tinu Suresh Desai directorial Rustom is one of the most anticipated films of the year. It has been inspired by a real life incident of popular Nanavati case of 1959 in which an Indian Naval Commander K.M. Nanavati has killed his wife’s murder with gun shots.
There have been lots of buzz among the people about this film as Akshay is playing the character of a Navy officer for the first time.
If we talk about the occupancies on day one, the morning and noon shows has seen around 40% which had jumped to 70 to 80 % in the evening and night shows. Thanks to the positive reviews it got from the critics plus Akshay’s superb performance has made sure it is the edge of the seat thriller.
This is the third film of Akshay after Airlift and Housefull 3 to get a double figure opening. Although, Rustom is a non-holiday release plus the Mohenjo Daro effect might get some difficulties for this film but all went sidelined and Rustom has come out as the winner.
From overseas too, here comes a good news for Rustom. As per the official figures, Rustom has opened pretty well in the overseas markets and it has collected around 1.82 crores from the paid previews shows on Thursday.
With this, Rustom also becomes fourth best opener in overseas of 2016 after Sultan, Fan and Housefull 3.
