The film, which was in the headlines for the entire past week has finally released with so many ups and down. Let’s find out how it is made in below mentioned Udta Punjab movie review.
As we all know, Udta Punjab is the story related to the backdrop of Punjab, where the young generation is totally spoiling with the grip of drug addiction. A local boy Tomy Singh (Shahid Kapoor), who is a drug addict and performs as a fading pop singer.

Various other young guys follow his footsteps wants to be like him and starts consuming drugs. On the other hand, there is a doctor Preet Sahani (Kareena Kapoor Khan) who wants to end this brutal business of drugs smuggling.
Punjab Police inspector Sartaj Singh (Diljit Dosanjh) helps her in this cause. A Bihari migrant Pinky (Alia Bhatt) also comes under the scanner of drug smuggler and includes her to supply drugs. They also pulled her into this addiction.
Now the big question here is whether this life threatening business of drugs would ever stop? This you will know after watching the film.
Udta Punjab has made to attract the attention of the people towards Drugs addiction and all the characters and scenes only revolves around this matter. This is a dark film, where you will only find drugs.
You will enjoy the real locations shoot but second half is too long and you might get bored at some point of time as this is not a commercial film with full of entertainment factors. There is a different target audience for this kind of cinema.

Shahid Kapoor as Tommy Singh totally disappoints you. His last film Shaandaar, which was also produced by Anurag Kashyap was a big flop and now here also the result is same.
He looks confused in the dual personalities of a struggling pop star and a serious drug addict. Shahid’s role is more like a comic character and this would be surely a big deadlock of his career.
Alia as a Bihari girl doesn’t suit in this character. His Bihari language doesn’t look impressive. The reality is somewhere missing in her character.
Same thing has happened with Kareena. She has done so many glamorous characters in the past, that she couldn’t manage to give her best.
You will easily forget Diljit Dosanjh, although his appearance in the film is more than Shahid.
There are so many weak points in this realistic film. First, all the leading stars in Udta Punjab are commercial actors, so it is always very difficult for the audience to watch these superstars in this kind of art film.
Its climax is the most disappointing climaxes we have ever seen with so many violence which look more like a funny.
Before the release of the film, producers had raised so much voice against the cuts implied by censor board by after watching Udta Punjab, you will surely think that those cuts wouldn’t even get much praised by the audience.
Those who loves serious kind of films will also find lots of difficulties in adjusting the tune with the film and those who only watch entertainers are strictly advised not to watch the film.
My Rating to Udta Punjab is 1.5 out of 5 stars.
